Job Description - USY Youth Advisor
Temple Emanu-El Providence, RI

We are seeking our next youth advisor to build dynamic, collaborative youth group programming for middle and high school students at Temple Emanu-El.  We are rebuilding our momentum and enthusiasm with the return to in-person programming and are looking for your inspiration to guide our teens and tweens!  The advisor would work with our teen leaders to plan their social, Shabbat/holiday, and social justice events.  There may be opportunities to connect teens with regional and national USY events as well.  This role would report to the Director of Youth Education and Engagement.

Role is approximately 10 hrs / week.  Most events are on Saturday afternoon/evening, Sunday afternoon, or weekday evenings.

Job responsibilities:
Plan 1-2 events / month for USY (9th-12th graders)
Plan events every 6-8 weeks for Gesher (6th - 8th graders)
Plan 4 - 5 events throughout the year for Chaverim (3-5th graders)
*Many events can combine multiple age groups!

Build relationships with teens/youth and help instill a love of Jewish community
Recruit high school students for Senior USY board
Facilitate twice-monthly board meetings with teen leaders
Work with other synagogue staff to set the calendar for events
Manage logistics and supplies for events
Advertise and market events, with teen collaboration
Communicate with teens and families for recruitment and updates
Engage in outreach calls and emails to new families or teens not yet involved

Job qualifications:
Experience working with teens in a camp, education, or youth group setting preferred
Ability to collaborate with and empower teen leaders 
Flexible schedule for weekend / evening events
Ability to manage a variety of tasks and projects simultaneously
Creative thinker and team player

Start date: August 1, 2022
Job salary: $6,000 - $8,000 for 10 months (August - May), depending on experience
