Conversion Classes

For many years, Temple Emanu-El has offered courses to educate adults considering the possibility of converting to Judaism. Classes have often included several students learning together, and at other times, students have studied privately with the clergy. Instruction includes discussions about the Jewish belief in One God, Sabbath and Jewish Festivals, Dietary Laws, Worship practices, Bible and other Jewish “great books,” basic Hebrew reading, and an introduction to Jewish history.  Members of the congregation who have chosen to become Jewish are happy to meet with students and share their experiences with those considering this important life change.
