Community hevra Kadisha

We are pleased to share that The Community Hevra Kadisha is available beginning December 1, 2025. 

This Hevra has been created over the past two years with volunteers from the Orthodox, Conservative, Reform, Reconstructionist, and non-affiliated Jewish communities. A men's team and a women's team have been trained, and we have liturgy for non-binary and transgender Jews. The pluralistic community nature of our Hevra is one of its defining qualities. We are offering the beautiful ritual of tahara, the washing and dressing of our deceased, at both Jewish funeral homes, with humility and loving-kindness.

The Community Hevra Kadisha of RI is organized as a non-profit organization, fully insured, and created with the support and guidance of the Rhode Island Board of Rabbis. We do not intend to charge for this service.
