Boomers & Beyond Author Talk
Sunday, February 22, 2026 • 5 Adar 5786
12:00 PM - 1:00 PMYou're invited to hear the award-winning journalist, author, and magna cum laude Brown University grad Ariel Sabar discuss his remarkable memoir, My Father's Paradise: A Son’s Search for his Jewish Past in Kurdish Iraq.
In this acclaimed autobiography (winner of the National Book Critics Circle Award), Sabar traces his father's journey from life as a Jew in Kurdistan to his days as an American immigrant striving to retain his ancient culture and language. Along the way, Sabar describes the complex dynamics between a father who wants to retain his ancient heritage and a son who wants to be "fully American."
This program is offered free of charge to all Temple Emanu-El Members. While Sabar will speak to us on Zoom from Washington, DC, light refreshments will be available for those who want to join the program on Zoom from the Vestry.
Sponsored by Boomers and Beyond, in coordination with the Temple Emanu-El Library Committee. We hope to see you there!
