Religious Life: Overview

Overview

Temple Emanu-El is a community of people from infancy to over 100 years of age. The Temple is the place where many of our members choose to celebrate the precious moments of their Jewish lives.

Brit Milah and Naming Ceremonies are frequently held in the synagogue, while some members prefer to hold these ceremonies to welcome new babies at home.

As our Religious School children begin to learn Hebrew and acquire basic Jewish knowledge and skills in Third Grade, they are honored at the Gimel Consecration ceremony in the Temple. Their families make wimpels, personalized decorative Torah binders, which are used to tie the Torah scroll at their Bar and Bat Mitzvah celebrations, the next lifecycle milestone.

Weddings, Birthdays, and Anniversaries are all celebrated in the Temple. Members often ask for their funerals to be held in the Temple, where they lived their Jewish lives. Our Temple professionals are ready to help members prepare for each of these important moments.
