Membership in Temple Emanu-El is open to everyone. Perhaps you are seeking a place for a faith-full and rich study of Torah; or perhaps you want to meet and build friendships with new people. You may be Jewish but want to add more Jewishness to your life; or, you are not now Jewish and you want to see what Jewish life has to offer. Whether you are married or single or partnered, have children or don't, are younger or older, Temple Emanu-El has many ways and ideas for how you can enjoy synagogue life. Synagogue members make a commitment to support the work of the synagogue financially.
The Board of Trustees has voted to move forward with a transition to a new model of supporting our synagogue. Under this model, what had been dues, plus our annual fund solicitation, will be combined into one annual voluntary contribution. Every household will be asked to contribute an amount that is meaningful to them. If everyone does this, we can continue to offer our vibrant programming, and dues will not be a bar to membership for anyone. It costs about $2300 per household per year to run our synagogue. We will ask families who can support the synagogue at this level to please do so. If families can contribute more, we hope they will. And whatever the amount a family can contribute, the membership is valued and appreciated. Attention Prospective Members. As part of our transition to the new voluntary contribution model, all new members are being asked to join with a pledge that reflects a meaningful contribution for their family.
To inquire about membership, call the Temple Office, or email our Executive Director, Gershon Levine, at firstname.lastname@example.org. We will be happy to send you informational materials and meet with you at your convenience. We can even arrange to have a current member call you to get a more personal side of our community. We would be happy to welcome you to Shabbat morning services and provide you with a host for that morning to show you around. If you are coming from out of town, let us know and we would be happy to have a member host you for a traditional Shabbat dinner on Friday evening. We welcome all that you will add to our diverse community!
