Executive Director’s Message

Synagogues are extraordinary communities. They are the premiere places where Jews are made—where they are welcomed into the Covenant as newborns, taught about their faith as children, welcomed into the adult ranks at their bar or bat mitzvahs, challenged to learn about a complex world as teenagers and college students, sanctified in marriage as young adults, encouraged and anchored in their Jewish spirituality during their long life as full members of the community, and mourned when they leave. In synagogues Jews connect with other Jews, stretch their minds, and strengthen their faith.

Behind the scenes, a lot goes into making such a complex and important organization “work.” Temple Emanu-El’s Administrative and Maintenance Staff are committed to doing their part to make belonging to the Temple as “user-friendly” as possible. From member services to mailings, from accounting to purchasing, from space management to room changeovers, from weddings to funerals, from construction to cleaning, the Staff understand that all the detail-work they do directly serves the greater goal of making a strong Jewish community.

Have a question about any aspect of Temple life? We look forward to talking with you!
